Follow the I.D.I.O.T.

Good Morning my dear friends...

As I read this title I begin to chuckle to myself, simply because I have realized that many of you are baffled at the advice to follow the IDIOT in the room. Well give me just a moment or two of your time and we will dive into the commentary, to provide you with tangible tactics that can be utilized to identify the IDIOT in the room.

As a wordsmith I find great pleasure in creating acronyms. I get joy in learning new words, playing on the meaning of certain words, and creating new words out of old words. When we think about the word idiot, the dictionary defines it as, "a stupid person, a person of low intelligence." Allow me to pause just one moment and advise that your words have power therefore before you use them be sure that you know the real meaning! Now let's get back to our text. I'm sure at this point, you truly want to know why would I be following a person of low intelligence, well go with me for just a little while?

In today's conversation, I.D.I.O.T. is dialogued as:

Ideas. Defined. In. Opportunity &. Talent.

I know, I know, when it came to me I was flabbergasted and intrigued all at the same time!!! You see many times we enter rooms that are familiar to us. Whether it be our workplace, home, sanctuary or networking space. It is hard for many of us to step outside of what is familiar or comfortable to truly search for the IDIOT in the room. The thing we often times fail to acknowledge is that the IDIOT is not in the room that you have become accustomed to entering, it is found in the room you fail to set foot in.

Now allow me to wrap this up, you have to learn from those who have been where you are trying to go! The ideas in the room are located in the opportunity that is afforded to each of us when we truly enter to learn. Sit at the table with those who are speaking intelligently and identifying your untapped talent by questioning your purpose, probing into your passion and requiring you to invest in the definition of your ideals. If you leave the place in the same place that you were in originally...YOU WERE IN THE WRONG PLACE!!!

So now, when was the last time you Identified the I.D.I.O.T. in the room?!!?
